Melissa is a registered psychologist with a Master of Counselling Psychology. She takes a collaborative and strengths-based approach to working with people towards their personal goals. Melissa understands that booking a session with a psychologist can sometimes be challenging. Because of this, she is passionate about cultivating comfort, authenticity and safety with those she works with. Melissa is particularly passionate about working with members of the LGBTQIAP+ community, those managing interpersonal issues, and life transitions.
Melissa is committed to practicing from a feedback-informed approach, and as such will check in regularly to ensure your sessions are meeting your needs. She is passionate about giving you the space to share your story, and feeling heard when doing so.
Melissa has a range of experience working with people experiencing a range of difficulties and problems, including:
- Depression, anxiety and stress
- Grief and loss
- Interpersonal difficulties, attachment issues and relational trauma
- Adjusting to life transitions
- Emotional Dysregulation
She aims to tailor her approach to your needs, drawing from a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution-focused Therapy and Mindfulness approaches.
Melissa has experience working with adults of all ages, with adolescents in a youth mental health capacity, and in the disability sector. Melissa is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS)
