Bridget Bowe
Registered Psychologist
Bridget is a psychologist who holds full registration with AHPRA and is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society. Her approach is empathetic, calm and client-centred. Bridget has experience working with a variety of issues including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychosis, personality disorders, trauma, grief & loss and relationship difficulties. She has worked in diverse settings, across both the private and public mental health sector, and also had an established former career in child welfare and parenting services.
Bridget draws on a range of therapeutic approaches in her work, including cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), schema therapy, mindful self-compassion, and positive psychology.
Bridget believes in taking time to build a trusting, collaborative relationship and is of the perspective that therapeutic change comes from developing insight into how past and present experiences contribute to problematic behaviours and relationship patterns.
Bridget has a special interest in
- relationship and attachment difficulties,
- complex trauma,
- psychosis and
- perinatal mental health
Bridget is also interested in research issues around recovery models of care, which emphasize resilience and agency and aim to empower individuals to create and live meaningful and contributing lives.
